My dad insists that carp is the most disgusting fish and will argue to the point of yelling that it's trash. I don't know how carp hurt him, but it makes me sad that he won't even hear anyone out about it. He's not happy that I'm thinking of putting carp in my aquaponics system. He wasn't too thrilled to hear about tilapia either.

Europeans eat them all the time. The difference is huge though since I have eaten both the Euro and the US version. The Euro version is more domesticated and taste a whole lot better. They are special breed for hundreds of years to taste very good, while the US version is something we would call in Europe as a "wild carp". Too gamey, too bloody, it's anything but the European-special breed carps. Still edible, still can be prepared to taste good though! I can guarantee you, that if you would go eat carp in Europe, your opinion would be totally be different! Americans just don't know it. Worth to mention due to industrial polluting of rivers in the USA, carps caught from rivers should not be eaten, because they pick up too much poison from the river bottom.

I am looking for an ULTRALIGHT ( 3 oz or so) ultra small Fishing reel. It will be going on my ultra super light weight 30" telescopic carbon fiber. fishing pole 48grs. of total weight. ( Yes, it's durable ) TESTED & it will cast out up to 30 yards easy. ( Or more ) It's for backpacking. I'm putting together an ultralight kit. My current reel weighs 5.8grs. It's feels quite heavy on this little rod. I'd like to try to balance out the weight a LITTLE closer. Plus it will help lighten my pack overall. After all, weight is weight regardless.

A kid from Cambodia ,one of the boat people , in the 70s came to Roanoke Rapids North Carolina with his family to live and i saw him and his brother fishing in the pot- holes ,behind the RR DAM and they had a stringer of carp, he told me they taste better than the carp of his land 😮
